There are, however, exceptions to this observation. This paper contends that the closer an individual is to the traditional dictates of their culture, the more likely they are to maintain a strong family vigilance. David Tracy’s Understanding of Hermeneutics and Its Application to Theology
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 12 page paper discussing David Tracy’s understanding of hermeneutics and its application to theology. As a representative of the Chicago School of theology, David Tracy along with his colleagues has challenged the traditional approach to theology with one which is considered more “correlational”. In other words, the Scriptures along with all classic texts cannot be interpreted without taking into account their contextual influences. Correlational theology studies not only the classical theological interpretation of religious texts but also depends a great deal upon the cooperation between “other interpreters of the human condition” including anthropologists, philosophers, sociologists, psychologists and literary scholars among many others (Jeanrond, 1998). This approach also reflects some of the basic concepts of nonfoundationalism as proposed by Thiel (1994) which has fundamental problems with the traditional Christian assumptions which are readily accepted in the interpretation of the Scriptures and also advocates the inclusion of contextual influences on theological study. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Day-Age Theory of Creation
[ send me this paper ]

George Stanley Faber has been credited with formulating the “Day-Age Theory” of creation, which endeavors to reconcile the account of creation described in the Book of Genesis with science. Edgar takes the opposite stance in his text Satisfied with the Promise of the Spirit (1996), as he argues against the charismatic viewpoint and in favor of the traditional cessationist position, which asserts that Pentecostalism was limited to the first century of Christian history. Deism And The French Enlightenment
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. The extent to which organized religion is nothing more than a crutch for those who are without the intestinal fortitude to stand on their own two spiritual feet is both grand and far-reaching; that Deism restores one's sense of reason, nature and self-ability beyond the puppeteering inherent to organized religion speaks to the belief that people are not empty spiritual vessels waiting to be filled with erroneous 'truths' and misconstrued convictions. While the fundamental core of Deism revolves around the existence of one unified God or supreme being, it denounces the conventional tenets of faith that have wholly derailed organized religion. In short, Deists are provided the indulgence to discern for themselves the vast and various elements associated with man, his universe and all that is spiritual without being dictated to or conditioned into believing certain ideals (such as Hell, damnation, predestination, original sin) so prevalent within the stringent boundaries of structured religion, a particularly pertinent point when it comes to the radical changes that occurred during the French Enlightenment. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Development of Theology of Christology
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page research paper/essay that discusses the formulation of modern Christological thought. The entire ministry and Christ's crucifixion, burial and resurrection were completed within a span of just three years, according to the Gospels. However, it took centuries for Christian theologians to sort through the meaning of these events and how believers should conceptualize the mystery and majesty of the historical person who became known as Jesus Christ. The development of modern Christology, which is a term used to refer to scholarly inquiry and reflection that addresses the person of Jesus, his messianic mission and nature, occurred over the course of the first few centuries of the Christian era and was formalized through the auspices of Catholic Church councils. A brief overview of these councils demonstrates how Christology evolved. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Diane Eck Does Not Make A Convincing Argument For Pluralism In Her Book "Encountering God"
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages in length. On the surface of Diane L. Eck's Encountering God: A Spiritual Journey from Bozeman to Banaras, one might readily surmise how the author possesses an accurate understanding of religious presence in today's multicultural society; however, upon closer inspection, Eck claims there has been an epiphany where religious pluralism is concerned that is a self-evident reality when one simply looks at how members of such otherwise opposing faiths as Muslim, Catholicism and Judaism are now more tolerant and welcoming of one another than ever before. One cannot be sure one is seeing the same global community as what Eck perceives, inasmuch as the only "isms" that truly exist with regard to the quest for religious tolerance are fanaticism, individualism and nationalism, which leaves little if any room for a modicum of pluralism. Given that the two most critical components of religious pluralism are respect and tolerance, it is hard to understand how Eck can purport the up-and-coming presence of a pluralistic society when right at this very moment America is being viciously attacked by those who live, eat and prosper on her very soil. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
