Banking Systems of Argentina and the United States
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page paper comparing the central banking systems of Argentina and the US. It appears that the primary difference in the central banks of Argentina and the US (aside from direct government involvement) is the ability of each to control the money supply as well as interest rates as instruments used in fine-tuning the orchestration of the market as described by Adam Smith. Smith’s “invisible hand” can become too heavy for the market to bear without any central bank intervention, but the central banks of both Argentina and the United States both have demonstrated in too-recent memory that ill-advised action can be as detrimental as no action at all. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Bush’s Affirmative Action Views Help Hispanics
[ send me this paper ]
The first thing anyone will notice when observing the Bush White House and its Advisors is that it has color. Instead of talking about Affirmative Action, George W. Bush has included people of color on his actual consultant staff. Three names easily come to mind, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice and Alberto Gonzales, the latter his candidate for the Supreme Court Justice position. When Bush is on TV, the good ole white boy club is visually gone. His advisors are an example of what Bush refers to as “affirmative access,” his replacement for Affirmative Action. It’s the President’s method, lived by example, of providing racial integration that, in practice, far exceeds any claim in support of equal access under the unsuccessful Affirmative Action program. In light of Bush’s nature to take action, his Administration has gone further than any other White House in support of the Hispanic community. 5 works cited. jvBushAA.rtf

Charles V (1500-1558) the Holy Roman Emperor in the 16th century became the ruler of one of the most expansive empires in European history. During his lifetime he fought for the maintenance of the Catholic religion against the increasing influences of the Protestant religion and the followers of Martin Luther and the ongoing boundary dispute with the French and the Turks. A man of compassion, Charles and his brother Ferdinand signed many treaties to continue peace on the continent. The ongoing success of the Spanish conquests of the Americas and the Indies continued during the reign of Charles and his sympathies toward the treatment of the native Indians led him to pass the New Laws of the Indies in 1542 which outlawed the enslavement of the Indians by the settlers. Charles eventually retired his lands and throne to his son Philip II and his brother Ferdinand I and lived in a monastery in Spain until his death in September 1558.
