The U.S. Agricultural Crisis and Illegal
Immigration
[ send me this paper ]
The current crisis in United States politics concerning agriculture and the illegal alien question is just that, a crisis. To some, the crisis foreshadows the demise of the U.S. through the third-worlding of its workforce. To others, the opposite appears to be true. Without an immigration workforce, they say, the world’s largest agricultural community shuts down because Americans won’t work agricultural jobs. There are still others, once illegal immigrants themselves, who say the borders should be closed because there are already too many migrant workers for the available agricultural positions. Still others believe migrants are responsible for their unemployment (Huspek, 2001, 51). The final contingent states that the immigration laws are not being enforced and that America’s open borders are the major problem in terms of infrastructure.
All arguments may carry some validity, but the final argument creates the crisis. jvIlAlie.rtf

This is an 8 page paper discussing violence in the workplace. Throughout the United States, it has been estimated that each week, there is on average 20 homicides which occur within the workplace and over 18,000 instances of nonfatal violence within the workplace. Workplace violence prevention includes environmental strategies such as increasing the distance between potential offenders and the employees with the use of bullet-proof barriers among other things; improved or increased staffing during high risk tasks; administrative strategies which include clear anti-violence policies and employee assistance programs for employees who seek help; and behavioral strategies such as training sessions in which employees learn to cope with stressful situations. Working Class Housing In Early Twentieth Century Britain: Central And Local State Solutions
[ send me this paper ]
12 pages in length. Urban blight was alive and well for the working class population in early twentieth century Britain. With rigid social structure the overwhelming force behind housing populations, Britain's central and local states found themselves with a significant problem on their hands. The squalid conditions that many people called home were slowly but surely becoming the focus of significant strife; as such, a solution had to be found before the working class would rebel any further. Working class housing at the turn-of-the-century Britain reflected a conspicuous absence of civilized surroundings, with structures so decrepit and unappealing that those who were relegated to such living quarters were thought of as social fringe. In order to address this ever-mounting problem, Britain's central and local states took aim and applied the notion of modernism as a means by which to appease the working class.
