Calvinism and Puritanism: Connections Through History
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page discussion of the history of the Puritans. The author contends that this history is considerably more extensive than that that unfolded in the “New World”. Indeed, the Puritans are integrally connected to Scotland and a man known as John Calvin. Puritans were followers of Calvin’s radical new approach to religion. The reverberations of that approach would reach far beyond Scotland and into the Americas as well as the rest of the world. Not only would it shape the actions of the Puritans themselves, it would determine the way they would interact with others throughout history. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Cause And Effects Of Reconstruction Period Between 1865 And 1896
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. Equity under constitutional principles was one of the leading causes behind the Reconstruction, a time when blacks sought to step away from their long-standing rank as slave and place themselves upon level more equitable with being treated as human beings. Since the early 1400s, blacks broke their bodies and minds by serving the white man, constant toil and struggle that served to advance the whites but did nothing for the self-sacrificing black men or women. Adapting into the white man's world was never permitted despite how the blacks forfeited their lives for the benefit of the whites; ultimately, this one-sided situation came under scrutiny as the Civil War came to an end, a time when social, political and economic climates served to establish the fundamental objectives of Reconstruction. Causes Leading To The Revolutionary War
[ send me this paper ]
All too often, our contemporary media portrays the American Revolutionary War as a relatively brief and glorious fight for Independence from British taxation. In reality, it was for at least a century and a half prior to the onset of Revolutionary conflict that the forthcoming war was foreshadowed through economic struggle, political instability, and an increasing distance between the needs of the American people and the desires of the British crown. This 4 page essay describes the tensions from as far back as1632 with the Maryland Charter, up through the Navigation Acts (1660s), the Hat Act (1730s), etc; No Bibliography.

Causes of War
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page research paper that discusses the true causation for war. Some theorists emphasize the material causes for war, that is, the desire for territory, economic factors, etc., while others focus on the ideological causes for war, that is, nationalism, religion, etc. There is seldom one specific cause that brings two or more nations into bloody, massive conflict. Material causes are frequently intertwined with ideological in a Gordian knot that defies unraveling. However, it can be argued that behind the material causes, it is war’s ideological causes that provide the principal motivation for a society to consciously choose to undergo the insanity and loss of war. Examination of World War I, Vietnam and the current US war in Iraq illustrates this point. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Causes of WWII/Pacific Theatre
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page research paper that draws on a book that presents primary documents from the era. The cause of the War in the Pacific during World War II between the United States and Japan is typically attributed simply to the surprise attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. However, this event did not occur in a vacuum, but rather evolved out of the political context of the time and was seen by the Japanese as a logical consequence of the failure of diplomatic negotiations between the US and Japan to resolve the disputes between the two countries. Primary source documents from the months preceding the Japanese attack and the instigation of war reveal that both the US and Japan were intent on maintaining specific positions that they saw as non-negotiable. These positions constitute the causes that led like a fuse to a power keg in initiating the Pacific War. Bibliography lists 1 source.

Cavaliers and the Puritans: From England to the Americas
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page discussion of the integral differences between the Puritans and the Cavaliers. Traces the groups from their origin in England to their exploits in the Americas. The author of this paper contends that the Puritans were seeking to establish a new Jerusalem, a place where justice and fairness would prevail. The Puritans’ reluctance to move into new areas of the New World meant that the majority of their impact was restricted to the northern portion of what would eventually become the United States. In contrast, the Cavaliers were more interested in expanding their areas of control. Their influence would quickly spread from the Northeast into the South. Much of their philosophy centered around capturing control of and taming the “New World” and its people. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
