Anorexia Nervosa: Definition, Those Affected, Symptoms, Physical and Psychological Effects, and Treatments
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 10 page paper discussing all the aspects of anorexia nervosa. Anorexia nervosa is a eating disorder which is a considered the refusal by an individual to maintain normal body weight but instead loses weight either by diet, exercise or purging with an attempt to obtain an ideal body weight; however, the individual never has the perception of reaching that ideal weight. Anorexia causes severe physical damage and in many cases may result in death. The largest portion of the population affected by anorexia is teenage girls and if untreated can lead to a 20% morality rate. Treatment of the disease decreases the mortality rate to 1 to 2% but treatment is a difficult and long process. While 60% of those treated enjoy a full recovery, 20% continue with the disease and the other 20% relapse back into the disease. Treatments proven to be the most successful are those which combine elements of hospitalization, psychological counseling on individual, group, family and support levels and some pharmacological treatments to decrease depression. 5 pages in length. Describes the causes and symptoms of Anorexia Nervosa as well as those who are most prone to suffer from the disease. During the past decade the prevalence of eating disorders has increased among teenage and college-age American women. This increase is probably caused in part by society’s idea of the ideal woman as being overly thin in order to be beautiful. Adolescence is an intense time and is normally a time of physical changes as well as psychological changes. Females in particular seem to experience stress that is not experienced by their male peers. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

The value of the series of articles is that each article focuses on a specific point of stated, formal ethics code to explain to perioperative nurses precisely what the standards mean for them. When a patient is admitted to the hospital and is receiving intravenous drugs, it is clear that he or she is already in a relatively fragile state. Though the end goals are the same in each, the methods of achieving those goals are adaptable to Mr. K's specific situation. A 9 page discussion of the economic feasibility of a nationwide prescription drug plan. Are Kids Overmedicated?
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. From the moment they are born, parents and pediatricians work hard to keep babies healthy. This day and age of tremendous technological breakthroughs continue to make the challenge that much easier with a combination of preventive and curative treatments. However, the ease with which these treatments are so effective and readily available has created a problem in and of itself: Today's children are severely overmedicated. One treatment in particular that has caused a great deal of the problem is antibiotics, inasmuch as pediatricians often prescribe this so-called "cure all" medication without requiring a culture.
