Black Violence/A Marxist View
[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page research paper/essay that explores the social phenomena of black violence, and specifically black-on-black crime. The writer attempts to explain this violence using Marxist theory. In February of 2006, Coy Freeman, an African American resident of Chicago, was buckling his baby into a car seat, preparing to take his other three children to Parkman Elementary School, when a drive-by shooter opened fire. Freeman was shot through the eye, but eight-year-old Ariana and 6-year-old son, who is also named Coy, were both wounded (Sweeney and Donovan 6). The assassination attempt is alleged gang-related and, though Freeman has a criminal record, he was not known to be violent and he has denied being a gang member (Sweeney and Donovan 6). While the incidence of crime, in general, has gone down in recent years in Chicago, black-on-black crime has not. Marxist theory offers some possible explanations for why this should be so. Bobby Joe Long
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. Bobby Joe Long may well have faded away into the chasm of undiscovered serial killers were it not for the blazing trail of evidence he inadvertently left behind the many scenes of his brutal crimes. Yet, there is some agreement among those in the psychology field that serial killers may knowingly be careless when it comes to the path of clues they allow law enforcement officials to find, inasmuch as part of their antisocial behavior is linked with the desire to be caught. For Long, it was a long and intricate road that finally led the law to his door, a culmination that occurred only after ten women were viciously raped and murdered, and two hundred more lived to remember their ordeal. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
